The vehicles, which have been supplied by the UK’s leading electric utility vehicle supplier Bradshaw, have been purchased in line with its long-standing commitment to help tackle climate change.
With a fleet currently comprising of 8 vehicles – which are primarily used for waste management and collection applications – the Parish Council has set a target of electrifying its entire fleet over the coming years.
After requiring an electric utility vehicle which was ideally suited for accessing footpaths and other hard-to-reach areas where litter and refuse bins are situated, the Parish Council sought the expertise of Bradshaw Electric Vehicles whose experience in working with local authorities made them well-placed to cater to Haydon Wick’s requirements according to Bradshaw Marketing Manager Ramsy Labassi.
With an operational range of between 51-101 miles, a generous payload of up to 1050kg and a maximum speed of 31mph, Hayden Wick Parish Council’s Goupil G4s have each been fitted with a cage tipper on the rear of the vehicles by Bradshaw.
A popular choice among local authorities, the Goupil range provide an environmentally friendly and sustainable solution for those looking to reduce their carbon footprint while similarly being able to be bespoke adapted to the specific requirements of the customer.
Dave Hunt, Head of Parks and Open Spaces Team at Haydon Wick Parish Council commented: “The task of managing and collecting waste from our 160 refuse bins around Haydon Wick can be challenging due to many of the bins being located in hard-to-reach areas such as down footpaths.
“In order to tackle to this challenge, it was vital that we sourced a vehicle that was not only compact but enabled our litter team to seamlessly transfer waste from the bin into the cage. The need for the vehicle to be low emission was also paramount, in line with the Parish Council’s ongoing commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.
“Having worked with a Goupil G4 at my previous employer, I’d already had first-hand experience in the benefits it offered and therefore knew it would be a valuable addition to our existing fleet and complement what we’re trying to achieve – both on an environmental front and in terms of providing a vehicle that would allow the litter pick team to work more seamlessly – which made it a no brainer to recommend them.
Dave continued: “From their bespoke offering to their level of service Bradshaw have been excellent to work with and we must thank them for their expert consultation and continued support in facilitating the provision of our new two Goupil G4 vehicles.”
