City of London Corporation has taken on two Goupil G4 vehicles from the UK’s leading supplier of electric utility vehicles, Bradshaw, in a bid to bolster its fleet of electric utility vehicles.
The electric utility vehicles have been purchased by the governing body’s City Garden Team which manages and maintains the parks and green spaces within the ‘square mile’ of the City of London.
Following an increase in tree planting in the capital, along with an increased drive to improve access to high-quality green spaces for Londoners, the two Goupil vehicles have been purchased to streamline watering and waste management efforts conducted by the City Gardens Team.
With the City of London aiming for its square mile to achieve Net Zero status by 2040, the City Gardens Team have also purchased the vehicles as a part of an ongoing fleet replacement programme, which will see their current vehicles be exchanged with all-electric alternatives over the coming years.
With an operational range of between 51-100 miles, a generous payload of up to 1050kg and a maximum speed of 31mph, one of the Goupil G4s have been fitted with a watering bowser and the second will be fitted with a cage tipper.
A popular choice among local authorities, the Goupil range provide an environmentally friendly and sustainable solution for those looking to reduce their carbon footprint while similarly being able to be bespoke adapted to the specific requirements of the customer.
Jake Tibbets, City Gardens Manager at City of London commented: “In line with the increased green push in London and increased investment into maintaining and enhancing the city’s green areas, we took the decision to purchase the two Goupil G4 vehicles.
“Over the last few years there has been a significant increase in the number of standalone planters and trees in the catchment area and we were finding that ensuring they were all sufficiently watered was becoming increasingly more challenging.
“To solve this problem, we sought out a compact vehicle that would not only be able to navigate easily throughout the one-way streets and within tight spaces but could also seamlessly carry a watering bowser that furthermore could accessed with total ease.
Jake continued: “Once we came across the Goupil G4 vehicles – which were kindly supplied by Bradshaw Electric Vehicles – following a recommendation from another local authority, they immediately ticked a number of boxes.
“Compact, versatile and lightweight, the G4s were exactly what we were looking for and far superior to anything that we’d previously considered or come across. So much so that soon after ordering the Goupil G4 with the water bowser attachment that we ordered another, this time with a tipper cage attached to the rear for our City Gardens Team to conduct waste management activities.
“Special thanks must go out to Bradshaw also. From their bespoke offering to their level of service they have been excellent to work with and we are thankful for their expert consultation and continued support in facilitating the provision of our new two Goupil G4 vehicles.”
