Carlshead Farms, a 232-hectare farm in the Lower Wharfedale Valley in North Yorkshire have chosen the Goupil G2 for its balance of on-road and off-road abilities.
Carlshead Farms is a diversified mixed farm with cereals, willow for heat and papermaking, grassland, environmental works, offices and housing.
Robin, a partner at Carlshead, was looking for a vehicle to travel around the farm; partially disabled he was looking for a vehicle that was easy to drive with good access. "We researched the electric vehicles available and concluded the Goupil G2 was the best solution, particularly due to the spacious interior layout and the fact it is road legal and has large wheels to allow off-road driving".
The Goupil G2 is homologated to L7e, which makes it the ideal utility vehicle when needing to travel between sites connected by public highway. Sitting on 14-inch wheels and connected to McPherson suspension with helical springs and hydraulic shock absorbers the electric G2 is at ease on rougher terrain.
Choosing the smallest battery from the range, the 5.8kWh lead-acid is capable of 27 miles between charges, plenty to allow Robin to cover the 232-hectare site. With this battery configuration, the pick-up body with aluminium drop sides and rear tailgate provides a 478kg payload.
Robin continued "It has given me a great deal of freedom, allows me to check activities and is very useful for transporting small loads. Further uses will doubtlessly materialise".
