Luke Donald’s Ryder Cup captain’s Club Car, autographed by every member of the 2023 Team Europe, is en route to his home in Florida, serving as a cherished keepsake of their impressive victory in Rome.
Club Car has been an official supplier to the Ryder Cup since 1997, and the long-standing tradition of the captain keeping his golf car began in 2002 when Sam Torrance led Europe at The Belfry. Adding to tradition in 2018, players added a personal touch by signing the vehicle’s body in a gold marker.
The Captain’s Club Car was presented to Donald during joyous Sunday celebrations at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club. On behalf of the team, Rory McIlroy thanked his captain.
The 2023 Ryder Cup has left an indelible mark on European Team Captain Luke Donald. The Captain’s Car, signed by all members of Team Europe, is heading to his Florida home. Donald said, “I’m humbled and grateful for this gift and the words of my teammates when they presented it to me.”
“The Ryder Cup was one of the best weeks of my life, and it was an honour and a privilege to lead the team. The guys were immense and to have the car signed by all of them means a great deal. Every time I drive it at home, I will remember their incredible performance, which led to the epic celebration in Italy,” Donald added.
Since 1997, Club Car has proudly served as an official supplier for the Ryder Cup. To support the 2023 tournament at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome, Italy, Club Car provided a fleet of 550 vehicles to support the event’s logistics. This extensive fleet included six red and six blue team cars driven by captains Luke Donald and Zach Johnson. Additionally, hundreds of golf, turf, and utility cars were deployed to assist with various aspects of the Ryder Cup, ranging from media and broadcasting to security and medical transportation.
Kevin Hart, Club Car’s Golf Sales Director EMEA, said: “As a long-standing supplier of the Ryder Cup, we have a wonderful relationship with the event, and this tradition with the captain’s golf car further adds to that.”
“Luke’s dedication to the captaincy was remarkable, and he fully deserves the praise and thanks he received from his team when they presented him with the Captain’s Car,” Hart added.
Club Car supplies many of the world’s leading golf courses with its wide range of vehicles, and is an official supplier to the DP World Tour, Ryder Cup, Solheim Cup, the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) and St Andrews Links Trust.
