The National Memorial Arboretum located in the National Forest in Staffordshire is a year-round centre of Remembrance. The Arboretum features over 300 thought-provoking memorials for military, public service and civilian organisations and associations, along with tributes for individuals.
Covering 150 acres, The Arboretum includes a Remembrance Centre, restaurant and cafe, a large welcome and orientation area, exhibition space, and children’s woodland and activity area. Activities on-site include guided walks and Land Train rides.
The National Memorial’s land train is an excellent way to take in a large proportion of the site’s fascinating memorials which has recently been replaced with a Bradshaw T2500 tow tractor.
The National Memorial Arboretum had been using a diesel tow tractor to transport visitors in the land trains carriages. They found the diesel vehicle noisy and the diesel fumes unpleasant despite installing high-level exhausts. Travelling at no more than 5mph this also gave rise to maintenance issues for the diesel engine since they need to be regularly run at high speeds.
The solution for the National Memorial Arboretum came in the way of a Bradshaw T2500 tow tractor. The all-electric tow tractor overcame all the issues of the diesel engine, emitting zero emissions the T2500 provided a quiet and comfortable ride and a greener solution for the environment.
Towing up to 54 people on board required a robust, heavy-duty vehicle, and the 25-tonne Bradshaw T2500 fitted the job perfectly. Towing multiple trailers an optional compressor to release the trailers air brakes was fitted to the tow tractor. Working in wide-open spaces removed the necessity for the front protection plate, and the vehicle was painted maroon to match the carriages.
