Kettering General Hospital officially launched its new electric buggy service with the Club Car Tempo2+2 from Bradshaw Electric Vehicle
Kettering General Hospital has launched a new passanger mobility service with the a new 4-seat Tempo 2+2.
The hospital’s new passenger buggy allows reduced mobility patients to be driven by registered hospital volunteers around the hospital from set pick up points located at various entrances and car parks.
In a Dragons’ Den-style event Louise Huitson, a Senior Cardiographer submitted the idea for a mobility service. Louise said, “The idea came to me because my dad has mobility issues, and I had seen a buggy service operating at University Hospitals Leicester, and I thought it was such a great idea.”
Louise’s dad, Joe, said: “I can see how this new service is going to help people, like myself, who have mobility issues but are not necessarily in wheelchairs. I am sure many people will be grateful for it.”
Chief Executive Simon Weldon stated, “It is a very good idea and in line with our Trust values of being a compassionate organisation that is always looking to improve the way we care for our patients.”
Patients who require passenger assistance can phone a dedicated number, and a volunteer will pick them up in the top of the range Club Car Tempo 2+2 which accommodates a driver and up to three passengers.
The hospital held a competition to name the Tempo 2+2, and having received hundreds of entries, the 4-seat buggy has been called CARE FORCE 1 after the hospital’s CARE values of being Compassionate, Accountable, Respectful and Engaging.
